On July 11, 2013, Microsoft released Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Update Rollup 14 for on-premises and partner-hosed deployments. While Update Rollup 14 does not include any user experience changes or new features, it does address several known issues that some Dynamics CRM 2011 users had been experiencing.

The update rollup applies to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Server, Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Microsoft Office Outlook, Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Language Packs, and Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 E-mail Router.

The update can only be installed on machines that are running Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Update Rollup 6 or later.

The following is a list of some of the improvement and hotfixes that are included in the update.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM Update Rollup 13

On Tuesday, March 26, 2013, Microsoft released Update Rollup 13 for on-premises and partner-hosted Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 customers. Unlike Update Rollup 12, this update does not include any major new functionality.

The update includes hotfixes for a number of issues that the Microsoft Engineering Team or CRM 2011 customers have uncovered. You can read the full list of fixes on the Update Rollup 13 KB article.

This update also includes support for Windows Server 2012 and Active Directory Federation Services 2.1. However, the Self-Healing Setup that is required to install the update for CRM 2011 on Windows Server 2012 won’t be available until mid-April 2013.

As a cumulative update, Update Rollup 13 incorporates the changes that Microsoft introduced with Update Rollup 12, including cross-browser support and new entity indexes, as well as updates to the SDK, metadata, and activity feeds.

Update Rollup 13 is available for download on the Microsoft Download Center.

Note: To install this update, you must already be using Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Update Rollup 6 or a later version.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Update Rollup 9 Beta

The beta version of the upcoming update to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011, Update Rollup 9 (UR9), also known as “CRM Anywhere”, was released on May 9, 2012. To access the beta version, you must first register and complete a survey on the UR9 Beta Connect site. Once you have completed the survey, you can download the UR9 beta, as well as an implementation guide, from Microsoft Connect Downloads.

After downloading UR9, we recommend installing it on a test environment. This is especially necessary because there is no upgrade path from the UR9 beta to the final UR9 release. If you are currently using Dynamics CRM, and you don’t have a test environment available, you may want to consider moving to a partner-hosted Microsoft Dynamics CRM solution.

Support for three additional web browsers (Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Apple Safari) is included in the UR9 beta. You can use the weeks before Microsoft releases UR9 as an opportunity to test any Microsoft Dynamics CRM customizations and configurations in these browsers. Web applications of all types can sometimes render differently in different browsers, with customizations and configurations in Dynamics CRM being no exception.

Support for Microsoft SQL Server 2012 is also included in the UR9 beta. If you have a production or test environment of Microsoft SQL Server 2012 available, you should connect it with your UR9 Dynamics CRM test environment. If there are any issues with your configuration, you’ll be able to discover them and resolve them ahead of time.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM Mobile is not supported in the beta update, although it will be supported in the final update.

Microsoft created a Beta Discussion Group (this link will not work until you have registered and completed the survey at the UR9 Beta Connect site) for you to pose any questions regarding UR9.

If you’re looking for more information regarding the upcoming UR9 update or just the latest on Microsoft Dynamics CRM, look no further than our xRM.com Microsoft Dynamics CRM blog.
